The CTAAFSC continues its tradition of honoring community members who have shown leadership, encouragement and advocacy within the community by presenting them with one of the following awards:

The Garnet F. Coleman "Eternal Flame" Award
This award is given to commend continuous support of Health and Human Services for citizens of Texas.

The "Griot" Award
This award for Media and Communications is given to someone who encourages more coverage of information concerning mental health and health related disparities within the African American community.

The "Spirit" Award
This award honors faith-based initiatives that embrace, practice and demonstrate the importance of mental health, substance abuse, developmental and physical health education and intervention.

The Richard E. Hopkins "Torch" Awards
These awards are given in four categories: Consumer, Family Member, Professional and Community Leader to acknowledge individuals' efforts to improve the lives of persons affected by mental health or other health related issues within the Central Texas community.
